The High Cost Of Keeping Healthy

The very next time you go to the drugstore to fill your latest prescription, you should be thinking about how well we treat our government employees - yup, from the lowly civil servant right up to the Prime Minister of Canada.
It seems that we have insured that they will never have to pay for medications that your plan does not cover. Now isn't that just so sweet of us.
CTV News covered this story calling it Politicians have double standard drug plan: study and the Globe and Mail covered it with the following remark attributed to a Treasury Board spokesperson.

Here you go ma'am. You're good for another thirty days. That will be $753.00 As to why a more extensive list of new drugs is available to politicians and civil servants, the federal Treasury Board says the benefits are contained in the Public Service Health Care Plan.
"The range of drugs covered under the plan is consistent with the range of coverage provided by other large public- and private-sector employers in Canada," said Bob Makichuk, the chief of media relations for the Treasury Board.
"For us, offering a competitive health-care plan is a key element in the compensation package that helps to attract and retain employees."

The average citizen gets it up the asssss once again. But - I feel warm all over knowing our employees in Ottawa are 'the best out there'.
