The OPP is changing its colours, returning to the traditional black-and-white police car and following a trend that began in the United States – although
one leading safety expert says it is a "misguided approach" that's more about nostalgia than safety.
Ontario Provincial Police Commissioner Julian Fantino and Community and Safety and Corrections Minister Monte Kwinter were selling the new, old-look cars yesterday as a way to improve safety on provincial highways because they make the police cruisers more noticeable and therefore help to reduce speeding and aggressive driving.
