Why Newsgroups ?
The newspapers of the world have come to the conclusion that people are going to other sources for news and their individual research. The advent of the internet has caused them some hardship and many of them have joined the fray by putting an online edition on the internet.
As an example someone living in Toronto, Canada can buy a copy of The Toronto Star at the newsstand. He can also go to the Star's web page or the web page of the other Toronto newspapers. He can also turn on his radio or television and listen to the news there.
Another option, one that is not known by as many who do the above, is newsgroups. A cyber-friend of mine from Australia wrote a web page about
newsgroups which I think you should read if you are in the dark about this aspect of the internet.
