The North Needs High Speed Internet
Most of Northern Ontario, including Manitoulin Island, is in the dark ages with regard internet access. It is only a few communities here and there that have high speed and the rest of us are relegated to dialup service.
It's time our MP's did something about it!
If you've got money there's always satellite service which is very expensive and the technology is only one-way for now. But the majority of folks in Northern Ontario are doomed to dialup because nobody is talking for us. Our government officials already have your vote and they're looking pretty safe for several years before the next election.
I would like to see every single constituent in Northern Ontario contact their MP by telephone and demand better service. That would indeed get their attention.

From an economic developement point of view, introducing high-speed WiFi to Northern Ontario would certainly be a boom to the tourist industry, not to mention the fact that new businesses could be introduced to the north from " downtown locations" in the south thereby improving the job situation here and alleviating the youth of the North going elsewhere to find employment.
I believe it is significant that this post be here as yesterday was the anniversary of Alexander Graham Bell being granted his patent for the telephone.
