Nuclear Power Is Wrong
Normally I would never link to a web page that had a picture of John Diefenbaker on it as I have a strong opinion about that particular Prime Minister, and it isn't a nice one. Can you say
Avro Arrow ?
But Strong World has an item about Ontario's current nuclear energy situation that is worthy of a read.
To me, nuclear is not the way to go. I live just a short distance from Sudbury Ontario which boasts one of the greatest furnaces around. This setup should be repeated throughout the province and they should be feeding it coal. There's enough of it around to last us a very long time, and we have the technology to have it burning with zero emissions.
Oh, and Toronto could burn their garbage in one of these babies and have the whole process generate enough electricity to light up the whole city and well into Haliburton.
But that would make too much sense. We'll probably privatize a nuclear reactor or two to some arab state and pay through our teeth for electricity and continue with shutdown after shutdown cutting the reactors to 50% output as is usually the case with the current reactor sitting east of Toronto.
