You pick up the phone and your buddy just won't stop talking. The first twenty minutes were a real pain, but you can't bear to listen to him rant any longer. What to do? Try this.

"Harold, I gotta go now - my dog just knocked over a table and everything fell to the floor. A lit cigar rolled over to the drapes and set them on fire. I have a cake in the oven and there's a lot of smoke coming from the kitchen. I just remembered I gotta take a quick run to the store to get more batteries for this damn telephone. The doorbell rung and it's the pizza delivery guy and he's only got sixteen seconds more before I don't hafta pay for it. My stereo just exploded and I gotta turn on the bedroom clockradio or I'll miss the weather report. See ya!"
