Do You Remember The Beginning?
The internet is ten years old. A lot has happened during that time and Patrick Ruffini says of the future:
'What will the Internet be like ten years from now? I have no idea. In 2000, no one could have predicted the blogging revolution. Just two years ago, you would never have imagined how quickly the Web's new systems-driven architecture would come into being. The Internet renders planning obsolete. Unless you're the one with the Wikipedia or Blogger-type breakthrough, it's often impossible to see more than 12 months into the future. All you can plan for are the specific and measurable goals of your enterprise – victory in 2006; $100 million in online contributions, etc. – make these your lodestar. The tools and technologies used to achieve these goals are anyone's guess, and are subject to drastic revision, so pick your plays carefully and be prepared to adapt.'
