What Colour Suit Did He Wear
I don't know how extensive Mikey's closet is, but it seems every day in court will be a fashion statement that will be reported by the Santa Monica press.
I love this guy's voice, but I have no desire to look at him while he performs be it on a stage or in a courtroom.
SANTA MARIA, Calif. (AP) — Michael Jackson's attorneys disclosed Monday that they may call as witnesses two of the pop star's children and such celebrities as Elizabeth Taylor, Diana Ross, Kobe Bryant and Larry King.
Witness lists were revealed to determine whether prospective jurors in the child-molestation case had any connection to the witnesses that defence attorneys and prosecutors need to know about before selecting 12 jurors and eight alternates.
The wide-ranging list offered by defence attorney Thomas Mesereau Jr. read like a Hollywood guest list: Stevie Wonder, Quincy Jones, Jay Leno, actor Chris Tucker, Backstreet Boy Nick Carter and his younger brother Aaron, CBS's Ed Bradley and relatives of Marlon Brando.
Also named were Jackson's children Paris and Prince Michael.
The prosecution list included the mother of those children, Debbie Rowe, former Jackson attorney Mark Geragos, a young man who as a boy was involved in 1993 allegations against Jackson, and a comedy club owner who introduced Jackson and his current accuser.
Prospective jurors were not told the relevance of the witnesses. Some of the celebrities are friends of Jackson's, and others have met his accuser. Jackson supporters claim the accuser's mother was eager to meet celebrities.
The list also included journalist Martin Bashir, whose 2003 TV documentary showed Jackson and his accuser holding hands and Jackson defending his practice of sharing his bed with children. Bradley interviewed Jackson after the molestation allegations arose.
Jackson, who stood and smiled as the prospective jurors entered on Monday, came to court in a black suit with a red satin shirt and gold and red brocade vest, with a sunburst pin on his pocket and a jewel-encrusted accessory on his vest.
Superior Court Judge Rodney S. Melville began the second round of jury selection by telling the 240 potential jurors that attorneys will question them to make sure they can be fair.
"I have not made up my mind in this case and I want to select a jury that feels exactly the same way," Melville said.
When the judge questioned an initial group of 18 about whether they had seen any news coverage of the case that would keep them from judging Jackson fairly, all but two said they could be fair.
A 56-year-old woman with no children said she has twice been falsely accused of something, which she did not describe. She said she was "leery" of news reports and wanted more time to decide.
A 52-year-old woman with a 21-year-old daughter and 16-year-old son said she has followed "just about everything written about" the Jackson case and "I question whether I could give a good judgment on him."
Jackson is accused of molesting a 13-year-old former cancer patient, plying the boy with alcohol and conspiring to hold him and his family captive.
Juror questionnaires that were filled out earlier showed that the prospective jurors came from all walks of life and ranged in age from 18 to early 80s. The pool was mostly white and about a third Hispanic, with a half-dozen black prospects.
All but 16 said they could judge someone of another race fairly. Sixty-seven knew someone who has met Jackson or spent time at his ranch. A few said they or someone close had been the victim of ``inappropriate sexual behaviour of any kind."
