What About North Korea

The United States, and for that matter, the rest of the free world have been at odds with North Korea since the Korean War concluded.
South Korea has emerged as a productive nation since the Korean conflict, but North Korea has not. It has had to contend with embargoes and its population are near starving.
President Bush referred to North Korea lately as part of an axis of evil, along with Iraq and Iran.

In The Press
The CBC provides an extensive post on North Korea.
On Feb 10th, North Korea admitted its nuclear capability - the Toronto Star carried this story.
The New York Times followed up with this.

It appears that Condoleezza Rice is going to have her hands full with North Korea. Dealing with the Europeans that she has been visiting of late will be nothing compared to what she will be up against with North Korea. I wish her well, this world doesn't need another cold war.
North Korea petitioned the US to sit down one on one rather than the 6 country format it had been part of, but the United States declined this stating that North Korea has shown its insincerity before in one on one talks. One only has to remember the peace efforts in Panmunjom during the Korean War.
Eternity Road has covered the situation extensively on his blog.
