Leadership

by POKO on Jan 6th, 2005 11:59 AM

If you read the item on Saskatchewan's Premier Calvert and the Dumb Ass Twit of the Month Award to the right of this article, then you may appreciate this next item. The heading says leadership - something that seems to be lacking in certain provincial governments these days.
We have all heard of the term 'being politically correct' and most of the time I tend to want to throw up when I see the term being employed. I tend to prefer a man that speaks his mind whether the topic is a hot one or not. I cannot respect a man who speaks out of the corner of his mouth, the verbage slinging out around his split tongue, somewhat like our ex Prime Minister Jean Chretien was famous for. If you are thinking the word shit then say it, don't try to clean it up by saying poo poo.
Those of you that know me probably know I webmaster a site for my brother. It is a fantastic site to surf if you are into the study of The United Nations. The site is 'the training grounds' for tomorrow's movers and shakers. Some of its alumni have gone on to important careers in government and private industry. The site is called The Council on World Affairs of Canada, or COWAC.
I was doing some work on the site last night and I sat back and reread an article that I thought was even more relevant today than the day I first put it on the site.
Mike WadsworthThose of you that watch CFL football probably recognize Mike Wadsworth. Among the many things Mike did during his life was football commentary. If you were not aware, Mike passed away April 29, 2004.
Mike and my brother played football together in highschool and were good buddies. Wadsy went on to go to Notre Dame and my brother to Western where they both continued to play football. Both of these universities had excellent football programmes that were well known and respected in North America.
Years later my brother had Wadsy come up from Notre Dame where he was then the man in charge of Notre Dame's amazing football dynasty. Wadsy was the speaker at a COWAC function and his keynote address was on leadership.
Someone should tell Saskatchewan and Ontario's Premiers about this article as it looks like today we are more impacted by politicians trying to be politically correct than politicians speaking the truth. The truth is sometimes hard to support due to the controversy it carries with it, but like I said earlier "I gotta respect a man who calls it like it is".
